The first generation Firebird is on the GM F-body compact platform and aimed at competing in the pony car market. The '67 Firebird sports the same slit tail lights as the GTO and available as a convertible or a hard top. The base Firebird models come equipped with the OHC inline 6 engine mounted with a one barrel carburator. The sprint is the first step up in power and the same engine puts out 215 hp (160 kW) with the four barrel. The most popular choices in '67 is the 326 CID (5.3 L) V8 engine equipped with a two barrel or the four barrel developing 250 hp (190 kW) or 285 hp (213 kW) respectively. The power option this year is a 400 CID (6.6 L) engine, the same as the GTO, and it puts out 325 hp (242 kW).

You never know whats going to happen at a no-prep race! Especially when its your FIRST no-prep and there is 50 thousand dollars on the line! The crew with the “Texas Grim Reaper” didn’t seem too worried as they made their way towards the Finals. Their weapon of choice? - A 522 cubic inch, Big Block Corvette, pushed by a VIOLENT corkscrew supercharger, which shook the stands of the Drag strip every time it started up, causing people hundreds of feet away to cover their ears during every burnout and pass! We assume this won’t be the last time we see this car.
