1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6 454 – Freak of Nature

1970 was the pinnacle of the original muscle car era. Horsepower ratings had soared to ridiculous levels. No muscle car had a higher on paper rating than the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6 454. It was rated a whopping 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This video explains why the LS6 powered 1970 Chevelle SS was one of the best muscle cars ever produced and why it’s truly a freak of nature.

    1. Yes im an olds fan from way back love the rocket. Nothing like an old 442 ….

    1. My dad bought my 2 brothers 2 1970 SS396 with 350 hp. The SS’S also came out with 2 454 that year 1 had 365hp and the other 1 LS6 HAD 450HP. Do your research before you start texting crapp! Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU

  1. My late brother Ang had the very same exact car I’ll never forget it he drove my ex-wife and I to the hospital when she gave birth to my first son beautiful car white interior same exact color stick shift on the floor awesome

  2. Like the story behind the 70 Chevelle 454 this was pretty good for some who don’t have any knowledge of these bad ass big blocks

  3. My favourite muscle car! Just a mean looking driving car and its a real muscle car! not a pony car like mustang camaro and not four door like charger

    1. LS-7 wasnt aluminum , wasnt much differant than the LS-6 plus it never went into production , was sold over the counter as a GM crate engine

    2. Has aluminum heads. Some were sold by dealers. I worked at Aiken Chevrolet.
Like cross ram 302 it was a dealer option. But some come off truck to lot.
I should of said Aluminum Heads.

    3. Either way still never went into production , was sapose to go into 70 Corvette but never happend for Insurance reasons

  4. One of many of Chevy’s bad ass cars that’s when they were building muscle cars proud to drive a bow tie

62/63 Galaxie 406 Tri power

FE Ford Engine 390, 406, or 427

Look like a old 390 Ford intake

Ford FE engine, 390, 427/8

440 six pack. 1970 Roadrunner. Mopar engine.

Definitely Ford from firing order.

Dodge or Plymouth 340 6 pack set up

390, 406, 427 FE Ford engines

406 Ford Hi-po FE engine.

It’s from a Ford engine the clue is it doesn’t run anymore 😂

Dodge or Plymouth six pack

Tri power ford 390 ,406 or 427

That's got to be out of a 1978 Chevrolet Chevette. The SS with the super double wing and sitten on 28s

2200 Chevy s10 engine

Had a ford firing order on the intake, but the valve cover seat on the intake is throwing me. Special intake for maybe a 351 clevor?

389 Pontiac 64 GTO

Definitely not Dodge it's from a Ford

Has to be Ford cylinder marks show 6-7-8 all on one side.

389 Pontiac tri-power 64-65 gto

Dodge - Plymouth - Chrysler 426 Hemi: the Elephant Engine

Firing order looks like Ford 390/427/428

this intake came off a 406 fe 1962 ford

Briggs and Stratton 5 hp mini bike engine.

Ford only !!!! 352,360,390, 406,403, and 428

Either 389 Pontiac Or Mopar

Cant beat a Chevy

Love it, in high school I cruised around in a 1933 Chevy pickup my boyfriend had.

It's got radrod potential..

Awesome find!
